It's been a minute (but we been cooking)
We are so back (we were never gone)
In my defence, we have good reasons to have been MIA for this ‘minute’. This post is just to say we are here, we’re not going anywhere, in fact hum bilkul halkay nahin aa rahay. Wait – that’s a lil contradictory. But you get it.
First: the exciting news. We have been heads down busy building Karak for you. For realsies. We no longer just have 5 stories for you (link), but a whole lot more. There are some stories we can’t WAIT for you to read. I hope you’ll love them. And what’s more – it’s not just stories. You’ll know more next week! Maybe even sooner - Inshallah.
Khair!
One more thing. One of our artistically (and otherwise) talented friends loved our stories so much she started to make illustrations for them! You may have seen these already on the website but we didn’t mention them here previously (just silently updated from the chai imagery to the beautiful new illustrations you see here). So. Shout out and a huge SHUKRIYA to Ema for her amazing illustrations! My favourite one so far is the one for our 1st story: Ali’s quest to eat some mangoes. You may have seen it already but here it is in its full glory:
Last thing. This post is also to say thank you in general and in particular. Thank you for your love for Urdu, thank you for your interest in Urdu, thank you for all the feedback, and thank you in particular to all the survey respondents, all the people who messaged or emailed us privately, and ESPECIALLY to the professors (Aftab, David, Fauzia, and Pasha) who encouraged us and inspired us and were all so generous with their time and insights.
If you ever want to say hello, hi, salam, adab, tasleem, or if you want to make us aagah with your qeemti raai, comment or message me directly at maaz@karaklanguages.com. I look forward to it!
We’ll be back with more. Break k baad milte hain.
